“My practice delves into the space between our inner worlds and the emotional journeys that we navigate, and how these experiences are outwardly expressed. I explore these themes through a variety of mediums including monotype, drawing, etching, aquatint, poetry and bookmaking. Each medium allows me to capture moments of calm, reflection, panic, hilarity, support, and growth, highlighting the disparities between how these emotions are experienced internally and externally. I am drawn to the moments when these inner and outer worlds intersect, how our behaviours shift in response to circumstances, and the ways we self-regulate—or fail to—depending on external pressures. I am particularly interested in how facial expressions and socially accepted behaviours can mask authentic emotional experiences. This piece explores a neutral public space and the unspoken connections that pass between people. I am interested in the social interactions and glances between people in spaces we all inhabit but intimacy is seemingly lacking between strangers. We often encounter unanticipated intimate moments in these places.”
