“I have visited Dungeness on a number of occasions, the feeling of the landscape here is quite ”Other Worldly”, ramshackle dwellings along the flat shingle beach, which shelves steeply down to the sea; are counterpoint to the Massive power station which blocks the view at the end of the point. Then added to this is the lighthouse and miniature railway. On this particular day, stillness, quiet, brooding, uncanny are all words to describe the feeling I got. This what I have tried to convey in this painting – the light was almost like moonlight, just a shaft of weak sunshine grazing through the storm clouds.”
