“In times of war, social turmoil, and natural catastrophes, people are forced to abandon their homes and are thrust into states of devastating chaos and total uncertainty. In this work, the imagery of water drew on the horrific news about the destruction of  Ukrainian Kakhovka Dam by Russia’s military forces. Here, the water expands to represent all refugees fleeing floods and catastrophic events. It embodies the immense hardships of migration where most mundane actions are transformed into heroic efforts. It is the grueling reality of wading through rising waters while carrying one’s family and its belongings, trauma, and entire life.”
