I liked the sense that this figure had become subsumed by these objects, almost petrified, save for the claw-like markings of the hand. There is nothing real about this figure, except perhaps its direct gaze, which I think references the reality of the situation that it has been placed in. I wanted the markings to hover between painting and drawing to play with the language of these marks and what they convey.”
