“My work explores the emotional emptiness of public space. I paint works that are reminiscent of scenes that everyone may catch a glimpse of as they move through the world, but they are unmoored from any specific location, allowing a sense of dream-like familiarity in which the viewer can recognise half-forgotten memories. Reflections, screensavers, or scenes through passing windows are captured – the peripheral becoming the observed. The viewer becomes a part of the scene as they are allowed to pause in the transient moments of the mundane which form the every-day.”
