A Burning sense of Urgency -36.183:147.761

Jackson's Art Prize 2024
136 x 175 cm

“Grappling to navigate the paradox of having an environmental agenda and art practice dependent on materials yet living within socio-political systems that cause irreversible damage to the planet. A Burning Sense of Urgency-36.183:147.761 is a large graphite drawing/watercolour on polypropylene synthetic paper documenting internal and external landscapes produced after experiencing the largest bushfire season in Australia. It is a pictorial representation of seeing, sensing and thinking, driven by the desire to understand the current ecological crisis, the scale and complexity of which remain hard to comprehend.”
