“My paintings contain the essence of a small stretch of the North East coastline and the melancholy of longing and wanting to belong. They view this landscape equally with disdain and affection, reverberating between memory and speculation for the future. They contain an unfashionable romanticism grounded in the act of painting. The paintings are an attempt to communicate Solastalgia, a homesickness for the place you live now as it changes around you due to environmental effects.”
