“I have been documenting the decline of British seaside towns as they transition from tourist resorts into functional communities through a series of works over the last two years. This particular painting will be familiar to the people of Morecambe. One of the last remaining structures from an era when the town was in its pomp, and its theme park Frontierland dominated its skyline. Now all that remains is this almost mystical monolithic structure, like a gravestone reminding us of the town’s glory days, slowly being eroded by the coastal climate, bruised and scarred by human life.”
