“My current work explores abstract landscape referencing nature and free forms that merge into personal memory and experience. I am curious about colour and texture which have a deep connection to my childhood memories. I enjoy using oil paint for its shimmering and impasto qualities. I also use vibrant colours for both to reflect the complex hues and textures of nature as well as re-connecting with the feelings of awe and excitement.
My process involves trial and error and rely on intuitive decision makings rather than pre-planning. This method echoes on my childhood memories of playing in muddy fields and pebble filled streams. Everything was done on impulse – this idea of freedom is what I like to adopting in my art making. Ultimately, I aim to build abstract painting that seeks compositional dynamics and energy whilst discovering and reconciling with my past memories and experiences.”
