“The work is an act of pareidolia, which is the tendency to perceive connections between unrelated things or ideas — in this instance seeing human heads in a row of trees. One type of living form echoed in another. The reference material is a personal photograph taken during a summer evening in 2025 from a favourite park bench in north Bristol. The trees could be seen as undecided, frozen in the act of either coming together or moving apart. A muted band of human presence underscores all of this, fading natural light giving way to flashes of artificial illumination, music and living spilling from windows and open doorways.”
