“Like most of my work, the painting is a fragmented view of different organisms. ’Growth’ can obviously be seen as positive, but equally something much darker, and I wanted the painting to have a similar feeling of ambiguity. The colouring and the forms are also uncertain in their scale, and sitting somewhere between internal and external.”
