“My art practice has always focused on space. Be it a figure’s relationship to their surroundings, or as the artist my relationship to the space in which I occupy. Often I will depict everyday scenes that are regularly overlooked: glimpses of buildings, unusual reflections and shadows, and buildings before crowds interrupt. My recent body of work has undeniably been influenced by the national lockdowns, with focus turned to closed windows and empty buildings. I transition between relief and intaglio printmaking and painting (in oils and acrylic), but always with the same focus on flat pigment, and strong but gentle light.”
