“I work in acrylic and collage, simplifying what I see into patterns and vibrant coloured shapes, made from torn or cut sheets of hand painted paper.
This painting was inspired by a view looking down from my hotel room in Tel Aviv of where the city meets the beach. I often work from aerial view photos of city-scapes. I keep editing down until I have found the most important shapes and colour balance which create a new version but retains the essence and energy of the original place. My training as an Illustrator still influences my work and my love of travel inspires the vibrant colour palette that appears in my paintings.”
