“My paintings explore the concept of belonging and the emotions that are evoked by what is familiar or alien. I reference family photo archives, as well as found photo albums. I’m interested in painting as a way of investigating beyond what is observed or remembered, and that there is always something discovered in the looking.

In my paintings, figures invoke personal, ancestral, and familial stories, presented to show multiple overlapping storylines. Persons that are unseen, objects that are overlooked, and encounters between subject and viewer create a permeability between the past and the present.”
