Abby Cocovini

Abby Cocovini is a British painter born in London, 1972. She completed a BA (Hons) in Graphic Design at Glasgow School of Art in 1995. A career in magazine and editorial design followed until lockdown in 2021, when she picked up a set of oil paints for the first time since A’ Level Art and decided to change her life and become a painter. A year-and-a-half of classes at the Royal Drawing School gave her a solid base from which to embark on the Turps Off-Site Programme 24/25, where she is currently working on a series of paintings exploring how her childhood might have looked if she’d shared the streets of South London with a brother, and not been an only child. Abby was longlisted for the John Ruskin Prize in 2024, and selected for the ING Discerning Eye exhibitions, at the Mall Galleries, London, in 2022 and 2023. She has exhibited with Art on a Postcard in 2024 and will again in 2025. She put on two solo exhibitions in 2023 – a charity fundraiser, ART FOR REFUGE; the other exploring the equality found on London Underground, UNDERGROUND SOCIETY. Abby currently lives and works in South London.
