Based in Montreal, Anthony Harvey is deeply fascinated by the concept of time, lost moments in history and dynamism of crowds. His work focuses on depicting emotions and dynamism rather than absolute realism and accuracy. The artist works with charcoal, which he applies and fluidely moves on paper with a variety of self-developed techniques. Some of his methods could almost be compared with the versatility and softness that are traditionally made possible by fluid mediums, such as oil paints or even watercolor.
Although self-thought, Anthony Harvey is inspired by the post-impressionist movement, black and white street photography and a vast array of archival material. The artist’s work was part of various local exhibitions in Montreal and actively posted on Instagram @aharvey.art.
