David Hamilton

David Hamilton is an award winning artist from Northern Ireland who studied at undergraduate and graduate levels at the University of Ulster, Belfast. He has worked extensively throughout the UK and Europe as a scenic artist and art director producing themed sets for the entertainment industry and in 2008 started making his own work.

Since then he has been selected for exhibition with The Royal Academy, London, The Royal Ulster Academy, Belfast, The Royal Hibernian Academy, Dublin and The National Gallery of Ireland, Dublin in both the Hennessy and Zurich Portrait Prizes the former of which he was a highly commended winner. His work has also been longlisted for The John Moores Painting Prize, Liverpool, The BP Portrait Awards at The National Portrait Gallery, London and shortlisted for the Jacksons Painting Prize.

In addition he has also been fortunate to win the BBC Northern Ireland At Seventy Art Competition and selected as a contestant on Sky Arts Landscape Artist Of the Year season 8, 2023.
