Eline Brontsema
Eline Brontsema was born in 1988 in Delfzijl, the Netherlands. After finishing her Philosophy study, she went to the art academy Klassieke Academie voor Beeldende Kunst in Groningen. She started her studies to become a painter. And although she still loves doing that, she came into touch with woodcut. She fell in love with this technique and hasn’t stopped making woodcuts since she graduated in 2020. For her woodcuts, she makes use of the reduction technique. It’s also known as the ‘suicide method’: the print is created from a single wooden plate for all the different colors. Her solo exhibition at Galerie Mokum in Amsterdam in February/March 2025 show her newest woodcut series of Berlin public pools. In 2025 two of her work will be shown at Museum More (Gorssel, the Netherlands) and at Drents Museum (Assen, the Netherlands).
