Guilaine studied science and worked in business until redundancy sent her painting to stay sane at first, until it became the self-evident conduit to her life. She paints to formulate the feelings arising from observing the world around her, a world tremendously enriched by having lived not just in her native France, but also in Japan, in England, in the USA, and very influentially in her work, in Shanghai China.

She oscillates between the soft and subtle tuneable power of oils and the contrasting vigour of acrylics, depending on the subject. After several years just focusing on the act of painting itself, this is her very first attempt at publicly displaying her paintings to see if they resonate with others.
