Melody Spangaro

I am a Naarm/Melbourne-based artist and completed a Master of Contemporary Art at the Victorian College of the Arts, Melbourne University, 2021 as the recipient of the University of Melbourne -Stuart Black Memorial Scholarship 2019 and the University of Melbourne -Carolyn and Hans Varney Award – 2021. I have exhibited extensively since 2016 and have been shortlisted for several drawing prizes, winning the M16 Artspace Drawing Prize, Canberra, November 2020 and Exploration 21 – Peoples Choice Award, Flinders Lane Gallery, Melbourne, July 2021. My creative practice investigates the intersection of aesthetic activism and ecology, addressing contemporary anxieties and reflecting on our humancentric relationship to nature, exposing the imaginative and cultural failures at the foundation of this super-wicked global climate crisis.
