Raman Uppal, born 1997, is an artist living in London. He had an education in Art & Design until University, where he then went on to gain a masters in Mechanical Engineering. After this is when he fully brought his focus back to his creative work.Raman has exhibited in multiple local art exhibitions in West London with art societies as well as participating in group exhibitions in East and North London, in Brick Lane and Dalston. He was also featured in Artist & Illustrators magazine in 2025, sharing his work and journey from the sciences to art.Raman finds comfort in a range of styles, jumping between abstract and figurative works. He finds the most interest playing along the line between the two, allowing the viewer’s interpretation to fill in between the familiar. Most of his work is acrylic on canvas, but also likes to explore print-making along with digital illustration. You can see the influence from his scientific background with the use of geometric shapes and line-work in his portfolio, giving a sort of structure to the pieces. He looks to explore this meshing of science and the arts further, ultimately creating pieces that spark conversation and emotion.
