Samuel Hanner

Sam Hanner is an artist living and working in London. Hanner studied Fine Art at Goldsmiths, University of London and MA Painting at the Royal College of Art. It was at the latter that research into wetland ecosystems began to infiltrate work in the studio. Their Degree show focussed on painterly formulations of reading around the Fens. A subsequent group exhibition produced by Sam Hanner and Sophie Goodchild at The Function Suite took the model of wetland ecosystems as its curatorial concept. The ideas of a slow exchange of nutrients, a semi-solid threshold and the potency of the flood continue to percolate in the studio and reverberate through these paintings.
