My practice revolves around imagination and fiction by the means of drawing and painting. I have worked as an artist since 2017 and have been drawing since childhood. I taught myself painting and for participated in an intense group of Critical Studies, as I developed my work conceptually. In 2019 I moved from São Paulo, Brazil to New York, USA. As I searched for ways to stay afloat while keeping a studio practice, I joined a commercial art gallery as Registrar where I’ve been working since. My interests come in part from growing up in an apartment in the city. As a child I spent a lot of time alone and would watch cartoons, read books, play games and draw a lot. Pairing that with Brazilian humor and fluid spiritualism meant stories, folklore and fictional worlds made a deep mark in my conscience early on. As I look back into my memories of fiction, I realize that what makes invented worlds interesting is their systems of truths and symbols – a made-up religion within a novel for example. While studying art history, I became interested in religious art and mythology. One thing that strikes me specially is repetition.
