Sylvia Radford is a contemporary figurative painter living and working in Chichester, West Sussex, UK. As a British-Singaporean, her work contends with ideas of cultural duality and identity, memory, childhood, family, and authority. Working worldwide as an engineer/ planner for 30 years put her in a position where she has had to continually navigate and negotiate positions of identity, acceptance and belonging, both culturally and within complex familial relationships. She began painting in 2016 as a means of dealing with persistent severe health issues. Sylvia is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Fine Art at West Dean College, University of Sussex.
