Ted Green

Ted Green was born in 1963 in Hermosa Beach, California. He studied biology before switching to fine arts in the US before emigrating to Germany in 1987. He studied painting at the State Art Academy (Kunstakademie) in Düsseldorf with Prof. Markus Lüpertz (master class student 1996).
His painting and drawing work is informed by the morphology of organisms, and by visual depictions of biological, chemical and physical processes. Nevertheless, he is dedicated to a non-objective painting style, simply because it allows the viewer much more freedom in formulating their own subjective associations – “recognizable subject matter cannot be unseen”. His works can be found in private collections in Germany, Switzerland and the US.
Ted Green is currently based in Düsseldorf, Germany.
