Verity Ure-Jones

Verity Ure-Jones, a 27-year-old artist from Southwark, London, specialises in contemporary portraiture. Her work delves into the intricacies of womanhood, emotional and societal connections, aiming to bring beauty to uncomfortable truths. Through her art, she prompts dialogue and reflection on contemporary issues. Having studied Visual Art and Design at The BRIT School, Verity briefly pursued a career in makeup artistry before returning to portrait painting. She balances private commissions with self-funded projects. In 2024, Verity’s talent was recognised with a shortlisting for the RBA Rising Stars Award, leading to an exhibition April-July. She was also longlisted for the Jackson’s Art Prize 2024 and shortlisted for The Gallery, Season 4 – ‘A Real Woman’. In November she exhibited with the Royal Institute of Oil Painters in their annual exhibition and won the Windsor and Newton Young Artist award 2nd prize.
