“My paintings attempt to capture a fleeting moment in time and make it permanent by translating it onto the canvas using bold brushstrokes and energetic mark-making in oils. Usually on a small scale, my works are intimate snapshots of every day life, turning even the most mundane scenes into extravagant vignettes by utilising my distinct artistic vernacular. I am very driven by the physical act of painting and only do a single sketch before jumping straight onto the final piece as I like to let spontaneity and implicit memory lead the way. I am drawn to working on a small scale in order to create a painting that becomes a little window of intrigue and strive to achieve works that entice the viewer to get up close in order to let the details of delicious brush marks emerge.”
