Alison Laing

Alison Laing is a Scottish painter based in Edinburgh. After graduating from Illustration at Edinburgh College of Art in 2021, Laing went on to develop her artistic practice inspired by a semester studying Painting at Hochschule Luzern Design, Film, Kunst in Switzerland. She finds herself driven by the physical act of painting, and as this was not her taught art form, has been striving to build up a diverse portfolio of work since graduation, letting intuition and implicit memory of her chosen subject matter lead the way as she experiments with the medium of oil paint. In the last few years her work has been exhibited in institutions such as the Royal Scottish Academy, City Art Centre, Dundas Street Gallery and the Scottish National Portrait Gallery.
