“The painting is the second work of the series “Bitterly Celebratory”. It is composed of many figures that have gathered in a room. Overall, the protagonists seem contemplative and preoccupied with themselves. The nostalgic mood of the painting is reinforced by the use of glazes, as some elements seem to fade away. In contrast to the melancholic or even bitter atmosphere, there is a playful interplay between different patterns, ornaments and painterly textures. The viewer is free to find personal relations to the figures and the scenery, the internal narrative of the scene is ambiguous.”
