Jakob Scheidt

Jakob Scheidt

Jakob Scheidt’s paintings move between figuration and abstraction. They examine the human being and the human form in complex scenarios that are intuitively composed of memories or fragments of images.

By repeatedly painting over and removing the paint, a temporal dimension develops in the pictures, concrete elements emerge from dark structures and seem to fade away at the same moment. The resulting ambiguous imagery is charged with a certain nostalgia and abysmal quality.
