“My dense narrative paintings are often comical, but they also raise unsettling questions about our place in the world and the formation and meaning of cultural identities and stereotypes. The complexities of the human condition inspire me: our quirks and familiarities, our moments of loneliness and joy, the ways in which we identify and represent ourselves in and to the world. Recent paintings reflect on environmental, social and political issues, including dementia care, gender, gun violence, and women’s rights.”
