Anna Mcneil was born in Scotland, grew up living throughout the UK and Europe before moving to Barcelona in 2007 where she is currently based.
She studied BA Fine Art in Bath in 2002, in 2015 and 2016 studied under the painter Varda Caivano at Salzburg Academy, and more recently took part in the Turps Studio programme in London 2016-17 and Turps Correspondence program 2020-21.
Working between studios in Barcelona and London she is currently on a residency near Rome in Italy.
She has exhibited widely throughout the Uk and Europe, shown with galleries such as Arusha gallery Edinburgh with both solo and group shows, and participated in a number of fairs and Arts Festivals.
She was a finalist in the acclaimed Lynn Painter-Stainer Prize in the uk in 2017, and has been selected for various uk art prizes, after receiving first prize from Humet Saula collection Award Barcelona 2014.
In Barcelona Italy and Denmark she has collaborated on Scenic projects with Puppet Theatre companies since 2007.
