Jo Mason
Following a BA at Wimbledon School of Art (UAL) and study at West Dean College, Jo Mason completed the London-based Turps Studio Programme in 2022.
Working with oil paint and sampling from a broad range of sources, Mason focusses on form and space in a poetic approach to her subject matter. ‘Impossible sculptures’ are constructed in two dimensions and combine imagery from various points in art history – particularly tudor portraiture – with objects associated with power, value and conflict.
Key to Mason’s work are growing up in England’s rugged Peak District and a natural science degree both of which inform an interest in structure and symbol. Jo Mason’s work is in UK and international private collections
