Justin Klein

Justin Klein is an artist currently residing in Jamestown, Colorado, USA – a ghost town of a mountain town and an artist sanctuary, nestled in the Rocky Mountains just outside of Boulder, Colorado. Originally from the suburbs of Houston, Texas, Justin found his passion for drawing during early childhood. He initially found inspiration in his parent’s garden drawing flowers and insects in colored pencil. Continuing down his path of self-taught expression, he took part in regional Texas art competitions in high school. He won the Culture Shaper’s 2008 Grand Prize in Drawing ($5K Prize) for a self-portrait work in colored pencil. He had work displayed at the state capital in Austin, Texas and was selected to have another colored pencil work displayed in the Governor’s Office for the span of 2009. He continued to draw and build up his portfolio leading up to graduation from high school in 2010. Once in college, he decided to pursue Geography and became a software engineer professionally after graduating university – this led to a 12 year hiatus in drawing. Come 2023, Justin decided to retire from software to pursue art professionally and continued to create large scale colored pencil drawings full-time.
