Ky Lewis
Ky Lewis, is a multi-disciplinary artist, curator and educator based in South London with an experimental photography and printmaking practice. She grew up on the Kent coast, moving to London for college. She studied graphics 83-87 Illustration and printmaking at Camberwell School of Art and Craft 87-89. Her interests are in landscape, history, human activity on the land, environmental activism, currently with an arboreal focus and site responsive location work, she creates drypoint prints either directly or in her studio. She uses a variety of printimaking methods and also works with large format pinhole and camera-less processes creating emulsions from botanicals. Sustainability and environmentalism are key, reusing and recycling as part of her practice.The durational aspect to working slowly in the land essential, enjoying time to reflect on emotional responses. Widely published, she has received awards and exhibited both nationally and internationally, notably; PX3, TIFA, Denis Roussel, JMC; Woolwich Contmeporary Print Fair; ING Discerning Eye 2024 Photofringe Brighton 2024 Ironbridge Printmaking 24; Saratta Space Bangkok2024; Open Press Project Künstlerwerkstatt Germany; Four Corners 2024; Bainbridge Printmaking Open 2023; Griffin Museum of Photography 22; Looiersgracht60 Amsterdam 22; Plaxall Gallery New York 22 Her work is held in collections both private and public.
