Matthew Lyons
Matthew grew up in Keighley a Yorkshire industrial town, close to Bradford. Keighley is a rather uninspiring town artistically, but thankfully close to Salts Mill where there is an impressive permanent display of David Hockney Paintings. Matthew used to visit weekly on his way home from school.
Matthew has had a lifetime love of art and design, and studied design at the Royal College of Art in London. He has been able to pursue a creative professional career whilst quietly developing his painting practise.
Matthew has painted throughout his life, but the lockdowns associated with the CoVid19 pandemic, curtailed a four-hour daily commute, enabling his passion for painting to reawaken. Matthew developed his style during the months of lockdown, and has matured into a proficient, and unconventional, portrait painter.
Matthew has been exhibited at the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition, the New Art Exchange in Nottingham and other local open exhibitions.
