Virginia Cayzer is a classically trained artist, completing one year of figurative drawing at Charles Cecil Studios – she then left the art world to train as an architect at Parsons in New York, and later at the Royal College of Art. About 4 years ago Virginia decided to focus full time on painting and set up a studio in North West London.

Virginia works mainly on commission, painting both animals and large botanical paintings. She works from observation as much as possible, particularly when painting animals. Watching how an animal moves and reacts she finds to be just as important as achieving a likeness; she always films, rather than photograph each subject and then uses this medium as a springboard to create the painting.
